Research Starting Point About

The Research Starting Point began as a collection of links, and was first formalized in December 1996 to assist financial and legal researchers locate information on the internet.

As explained on the home page of the original Research Starting Point, "One of the most useful things that the internet provides is nearly immediate access to almost unlimited information and literally millions of statistics. As financial and litigation consultants, we often find ourselves researching various companies, industries, government statistics, financial trends, stock market information, etc."

In December 1997, the Research Starting Point underwent its first "face lift" in order to increase the effectiveness and utility of the site. "Highlight" pages were added to showcase the sites we found ourselves using most often. However, at that point, the goal of the Research Starting Point was still to provide the user with the most sites possible while highlighting what we felt were the most useful sites.

On February 29, 2000 we unveiled the newest itteration of the Research Starting Point which incorporates some advances in HTML programming (for example, the javascript menu). In addition, we have rethought and reclassified many of the sites within the Research Starting Point into what we believe is a more "user-friendly" and intuitive structure. Navigation bars were added to the top of each page to help you move throughout the Research Starting Point more easily. And, we have added "Diamond" () Sites to distinguish those sites which we feel offer the greatest utility.

With that said, please enjoy your stay. We hope you find our Research Starting Point to be a useful tool in your navigation and use of the internet. Hopefully, this site will provide a structured means of accessing the information you are seeking. As with most sites such as this, it is difficult to keep them "up-to-date."
